Based on my Facebook announcement of July 31, 2026, with later reflections added for context.
On July 31, I had some good news to share.
I’d like to let everyone know that I found temporary housing in Chico … I’m not supposed to say anything about where I am … But I’m in Club Med compared to where I was …
That’s how I described it at the time. Club Med. 😁
Not because I had suddenly landed in luxury … but because after my time at Torres, simply being somewhere that felt more manageable made a world of difference.
A little more breathing room. A chance to regroup. A place where I might get some rest and work out what came next.
There were still rules. As I explained in the original post:
Sorry no visitors but I am able to be out until 8p and 11p on work nights …
I wasn’t pretending that temporary accommodations were the same as having a home of my own. I still had to organize my days around someone else’s schedule, and I still had a long way to go.
But I had taken an important step.
I’d spent time feeling trapped in a system with very few ways forward. Now I had a little space to concentrate on the next part of the journey … working, finding more stable housing, and getting my life back onto terms that made sense for me.
Most importantly, I wanted everyone who’d supported me to know that this was good news.
I ended that Facebook update with a message I still mean:
Thank you everyone for their support … Do not feel bad for me … be happy 😁 I am …
I wasn’t asking people to pity me. I wanted to celebrate a little progress.
And I wanted to keep moving.
