Hosting Campout for Compassion

One Night. Many Locations. One Community.

Every group can host its own supervised gathering to learn about homelessness and listen to neighbors with lived experience. No central fundraiser.

Choose your participation

Evening gathering with guest speaker and age-appropriate activities.
Approved overnight campout with morning reflection.
Family discussion, educational service activity, or direct support as a partner.

What we provide

A free organizer guide, a suggested event program, and printable learning sheets for ages 6–10, 11–13, 14–17, and adults.

What each host provides

A coordinator; safe and permitted location; supervision, accessibility and weather plan; appropriate safeguarding for children; any invited speaker arrangements.

What this is not

No fundraising goal or central account. No requirement to sleep outside. No pretending that one night reproduces homelessness.

Optional basic-needs giving

Groups may collect approved supplies requested by an existing local program and deliver them directly. Financial donations, if any, are made directly to the recipient organization.

Recommended resources … not required

Our materials reflect a “shelter first” and lowest-barrier approach. They are recommended, not required. All perspectives, questions, and countering material are welcome. We do not provide or recommend “treatment first” materials.
