Building • Fixing • Serving

Dear Friend,

My name is Scotty Franzyshen, and I am writing in the hope that this introduction might reach someone who believes, as I do, that a strong community is built one relationship at a time.

I have called Chico home for the past fifteen years. During that time, I have volunteered with local nonprofit and community organizations including Chico Fab Lab and Maker Radio, both part of the emerging Orange Street Arts District. Through that work, I have supported community arts, maker education, facility improvements, computers, electronics, fabrication, equipment maintenance, and educational projects.

Today I am looking for the next stable step in my life.

I am seeking a simple housing opportunity in Chico that would allow me to continue contributing to the community I care about. That opportunity might be a caretaker arrangement, housing-for-work situation, modest room rental, or meaningful part-time work with a mission-driven organization.

My goal is not just to find a place to live. My goal is to build a stable foundation from which I can continue building, fixing, and serving.

Over the years, I have built, repaired, designed, troubleshot, and maintained everything from computer networks and electronics to museum exhibits, makerspace equipment, nonprofit facilities, and custom technical systems. What connects that work is not a job title. It is solving problems, creating useful things, and helping others succeed.

My needs are few and my wants even fewer. I work hard and tenaciously when the goals are clear and the work serves a purpose larger than myself.

I am not looking for charity or a handout. I am hoping to meet people who may know of an opportunity, or who may know someone else I should meet. Sometimes the most important thing a person can offer is an introduction.

I do not have much, but I do have my reputation.

For many years, I have worked to earn the trust of people and organizations in Chico. The enclosed information includes examples of my work, references from people who have known me for many years, and a description of the kind of housing and employment opportunity I am seeking.

Whether you are able to help directly or simply introduce me to someone else, thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me.

With gratitude,

Scotty Franzyshen
